Are You Spotting Before Period Date

Spotting before period:

Periods are already quite tough as it is and you don’t need spotting to worry about it. Of course, spotting before or after your exact period date is not something extraordinary. Almost every woman goes through the experience of spotting before period at least once in their life. If you are experiencing the same thing, then you don’t need to worry too much.

Reasons behind spotting before period:

Periods started recently:

One of the biggest reasons of spotting before your actual period is the fact that you could have gotten your period not too long ago. The beginning years of menstruation is already marked by irregular cycles. This means that in the first few years, the periods are either always early or are always late. Similarly, in the first few years, spotting is a common occurrence. Spotting appears in the form of random intervals when you least expect it. Nobody knows the exact reason behind this spotting, however, the most logical reason behind the spotting is a hormonal imbalance which leads to the uterus shedding its lining at the wrong time.

Different levels of estrogen:

The second most common reason for spotting is related to birth control pills. Birth control pills consist of a chemical known as estrogen which is responsible for keeping the lining of the uterus in place. Spotting generally starts to occur when a woman has either stopped taking the pill or has started taking the pill or has even switched to another pill that has less amount of estrogen in it. You don’t need to worry about this spotting so much because it will start to clear up after a month by itself.

Emergency contraceptive:

Another reason behind spotting before period is that you could have taken some kind of emergency contraceptive. Emergency contraceptives such as the morning-after pills contain two hormones namely, estrogen and progestin. These two hormones do make you spot a bit once you have taken the dose. However, this is nothing new and you don’t need to worry about it. But, you should also know that the spotting is not the actual period that you should be getting. Also, this spotting should not be taken as a symptom that you are not pregnant.

Too much stress:

One other big factor in spotting before you are supposed to get your periods is stress. It is a continuous cycle. You get stressed, your period pattern gets messed up which makes you stress even more. This further stressing messes up your period cycle even further! How does stress causes spotting? Well, stress causes the body to release a hormone known as cortisol in very high doses. This hormone, cortisol, causes the body to release less amount of progesterone and estrogen. This, in turn, messes with the pattern of your period and makes you spot before it is time for your body to shed the lining of the uterus. Again, you don’t need to worry too much and everything will become normal itself.

Do remember

Spotting is totally normal especially before period. All you have to learn the appropriate time and the colors of spotting. Sometime it does indicate a sign of pregnancy. You need to be a little cautious but do not stress or panic. If you observe spotting for more than a week then consult your doctor for medication or treatment.

Spotting before period as well as pregnancy is totally normal so you do not have to panic or stress out because of spotting.
